Rotary’s Adopt-A-Tree Program: Growing Our Communities

Rotary Adopt-A-Tree is a District 9705 project — the same district the Rotary Club of Bathurst belongs to — that lets anyone donate to have trees planted across NSW and the ACT, including areas hit by fire and flood. For a small donation, a supporter can adopt a tree and receive a certificate, with the trees planted at organised community planting days on properties that need regeneration. The program was launched with a Seeding Grant from the National Australia Day Council and has since grown to include over 80 Rotary clubs across the district.

Beyond the trees themselves, the program highlights the flow-on benefits: habitat for local wildlife, erosion and flood control, cleaner air and carbon offset, and support for local nurseries. Supporters who adopt 100 or more trees join ‘Club100’, a recognition tier for the program’s biggest contributors. More information, including upcoming planting days and how to adopt a tree, is available at rotaryadoptatree.org.au.
